Off to Guangzhou

Ni Hao!
(Knee How) Hello how are you! I've taken to updating in the mornings so I'm sorry if you have been waking up to no new news, but we are so exhausted in the evening, so we've all been waking up around 4 am and that is the best time for me...still a morning person half a world away.

We went to a church service for internationals in the morning it was a wonderful experience to be worshiping God in China with people from all over the world. A great way to start the New Year. On the way out we started talking to an American who was teaching English in China at a University, he was so excited for us and our adoption and asked a million questions I loved being able to share about it but we had to cut it off short because we were keeping everyone on our bus waiting!

We then went to the Jade factory, they had some incredible carved pieces of Jade. It is very interesting how the Chinese culture has so many symbols for longevity, long life, peace and happiness, the things all people hope for in this life. They try to obtain these ideals though through hope in figures of things such as peaches(long life) or turtles, one horse happines two horses double happiness, and so many others, there is alot of supertition though it seems the younger generation does not beleive in these things but hold on to them for traditions sake.

We had lunch after that in a restaurant that adjoined a cloisone shop very pretty stuff, we are holding out for Guangzhou to do any more shopping though.

The weather greatly improved for our trip to the great wall!! It was a clear day in the high 30's with little wind. It was the weather I expected for the day before LOL.The Wall is an incredible sight and it was hard to believe we were really there. Anna and I went to the first tower but the boys went to the 4th. I don't know that the pictures do it justice but here are a few:

We are off to Guangzhou today! hard to believe but tomorrow is the day we meet Ruth!!
I may be able to post more this evening so you can wake up to new news but it won't be very interesting because not much is happening :-] but we will keep you posted.

Love,
Martha

That is awesome. I can't wait to see the pictures of tomorrow, though.
